Everything That I Know In The World
A poem for Maia
Everything That I Know In The World
I'm concerned with time
and the imperative. I'm concerned
that he was put down—Canis Major. I do not
tell her this—Maia. On her
forehead, he left silvery skin
diaphanous to split easily: luxate
gape, bead, flood. Mandible
incisor, soft palate, cortisol.
That you’d find nothing at the
center, I’m sure. Were you
to cut me in half and count my rings
I’d be younger still
than the years of scar tissue: germinate
sink, drink, shoot.
Change points towards god, Delta.
If not my lips
My tongue. Morning never comes
and yet:
Ecstasy, toboggan, fence, blanket. Rest
fodder catnip
nourish. Tundra bucket
silky
hunger
Fountain carry armistice gone
Rust ache
mote cast
Please
yes no
table
Entire
remember
poem you
stay stay stay stay.
